a poem for Lilly
Beneath Those Eyes
the guarded ones
Lilly has beautiful eyes.
Not the kind of beautiful
you notice once and forget β
the kind that stays with me
long after she looks away.
She looks mean sometimes,
almost cold,
like the world has taught her
not to let everyone get close. π₯
But I know better.
Because I've seen what's underneath.
beneath
Behind that guarded expression
is one of the best people
I could ever know.
She's softer than she lets people believe,
kinder than her attitude suggests,
and somehow even more beautiful
when she forgets she's supposed to be guarded.
People might look at Lilly
and think they understand her.
I don't.
I look closer.
I notice the little things β
the way her eyes change when she's happy,
the way she tries to hide her smile,
the quiet moments when her walls come down
and she lets the real her breathe.
And those moments
are the ones I keep closest to my heart. β€οΈβπ©Ή
the quiet
Sometimes she looks at me
and everything around us disappears. π
No noise.
No people.
No outside world.
Just Lilly,
her eyes locked onto mine.
She doesn't say anything.
Neither do I.
We just stare at each other
like we're having a conversation
neither of us knows how to speak.
And I don't look away.
Neither does she.
There's something almost frightening
about being seen that completely.
Like she can find the parts of me
I hide behind jokes, silence,
and pretending I'm okay.
For those few seconds,
there is nowhere to hide.
No pretending.
Just two people
standing in the quiet,
letting their eyes say
what their voices cannot.
her kisses
And then there are her kisses.
Warm.
Gentle.
The kind that somehow
make the whole world feel quieter. β€οΈ
Not because they're perfect,
but because they're hers.
And maybe that's why
they stay with me.
Some moments disappear
the second they end.
Hers don't.
They linger.
A memory I can close my eyes
and somehow still feel in my heart.
Unforgettable.
The kind of memory
that reminds me why certain people
leave footprints in places
we didn't know could be touched. π₯
not beautiful enough
So yes, Lilly is beautiful.
But beautiful isn't enough
to describe her.
She's complicated.
She's guarded.
She's difficult sometimes.
She's soft when you get close enough
to discover it.
She's the kind of person
you don't understand immediately.
You have to stay.
You have to listen.
You have to notice
what everyone else overlooks.
And I've stayed.
I've seen her sharp edges
and her soft ones.
I've seen the silence
and the laughter.
I've seen the girl
everyone thinks they know
and the girl
almost nobody gets to meet.
And somehow,
I keep choosing the second one.
The real one.
The Lilly beneath the Lilly.
The girl behind those beautiful eyes. ποΈπ€
the reasons
The girl whose smile
can pull me out of my darkest thoughts.
The girl whose presence
can make an ordinary moment
feel like something worth remembering.
The girl whose affection
has a warmth I don't think
I'll ever forget.
And maybe that's what makes her
so dangerous to my heart.
She doesn't have to try.
She just exists.
And somehow,
that's enough to make me care
more than I ever planned to.
She's in the thoughts
I never say aloud.
In the songs
that suddenly mean something different.
In the quiet moments
when I catch myself smiling
and realize she's the reason.
She's there.
And when she looks at me like that,
I forget every reason
I ever had to be afraid.
For a moment,
I don't need words.
I don't need promises.
I just need that look.
That smile.
That warmth.
That feeling of knowing
I'm close to someone
who has somehow become
a part of my world. π€
what I want to know
And if loving someone
means seeing the parts
they don't show the world β
then I want to know all of hers.
The light.
The darkness.
The pieces she thinks
are too difficult to love.
I want to understand them.
Because when I look into those eyes,
I don't see someone I need to fix.
I see someone I want to understand.
Someone I want to remember.
Someone who, somehow,
makes even the darkest parts of me
feel a little less alone. ππ€
And maybe that's why
I keep looking back at her.
Because some eyes
you simply look into.
Some smiles
you simply admire.
And some kissesβ¦
you never truly forget. ποΈπ€π₯
